SkyView College Counseling

As a college preparatory school, we are committed to helping students and parents/guardians with college planning. Our curriculum is designed to meet college admissions requirements so our students can pursue the college that best fits their goals and prepare for life beyond high school.  Please see the High School Yearly Planning Guide for more information.

Concurrent Enrollment (CE) Requirements

Available CE Courses:

• College English Composition (ACC-ENG 1021)
• Intro to College Literature (ACC-LIT 1015)
• College Algebra (ACC-MAT 1340)
• Intro to Statistics (ACC-MAT 1260)

Eligibility for CE Courses:

• For English: Have a 3.0 Unweighted GPA
• Have a second-semester grade of “B” or better in one of the following courses: English, Honors English, AP English Literature, or AP English Language
• ACT English 18+ or SAT/PSAT (10th grade) English 470+
• Be in 11th or 12th Grade
   
• For Math: Have a 2.7 Unweighted GPA
• Have a second-semester grade of “B” or better in  Algebra 2 or Honors Algebra 2
• ACT Math 19+ or SAT/PSAT (10th grade) Math 500+
• Be in 11th or 12th Grade

All CE courses are subject to cancellation

• Students must complete all prerequisites or be withdrawn from the CE course.
• Steps to Register: Apply to ACC and authorize the College Opportunity Fund (COF) with Mrs. Kamman. Please note that you will need your S# to request your ACC transcript. 
• After completing any CE course through ACC with a grade of C or better, you will earn college credit and an official ACC transcript. It’s your responsibility to request your transcript from ACC when applying to college through ACC Records & Enrollment Services.

Parents & Guardians

Parent/guardian workshops offer support throughout the year. Workshop topics include an introduction to the college process, financial aid, Naviance access (a comprehensive college and career readiness solution that helps align student strengths and interests to post-secondary goals), and the college search. We encourage parents to email, call, or schedule in-person appointments to discuss their student's progress or to answer any general questions.

During freshman and sophomore years, students explore career options and begin early college planning. Juniors participate in focused workshops covering college searches, interest lists, recommendation letters, and essay writing, with access to SAT prep courses in the spring. Seniors receive guidance on narrowing their college choices, completing applications, writing essays, and searching for scholarships. Each student meets with the College & Career Counselor to discuss their readiness and future plans.

Students also have opportunities to engage directly with colleges and employers. Individual college visits allow small-group discussions with admissions representatives. In the fall, the College Fair connects students with schools they are interested in, while the spring Career Fair introduces them to local job and internship opportunities. Additionally, students can participate in college day trips to tour campuses, meet admissions representatives, and experience college life firsthand.
