Middle School

Welcome to SkyView Academy Middle School! I am honored to serve as our upper school principal. I thoroughly enjoy kids at this uncertain age. Engaging with them, helping them find their way, and encouraging them, brings me great joy.

Highlights of our program include:

boys working on artwork
  • Core Knowledge curriculum with well-aligned reading, writing, math and science programs along with daily taught Spanish classes for all students
  • Electives including P.E., yearbook, drama, choir, art, technology, and leadership
  • Engaging teachers who care about and support our students
  • Character program through Capturing Kids’ Hearts and service learning projects
  • Leadership opportunities and class spirit
  • Competitive middle school athletic program
  • Individual student lockers (a big deal when you’re in middle school!)

Our middle school provides an engaging environment of social acceptance. In this environment, students learn to use their Core Knowledge foundation, character education, and Spanish to understand relationships, to establish connections, to value citizenship, and to build intellectual confidence. These key skills prepare them for success in high school. Upon completion of 8th grade, middle school students think critically and logically, write and speak persuasively, perform and behave their best, and value perseverance and the joy of learning.

I encourage prospective families to look into our program and schedule a tour for additional information.

I look forward to meeting you!

Sincerely,

Middle School Curriculum

SkyView Academy’s Middle School program is built upon the Core Knowledge Sequence. This foundation is then supplemented with math, science, language arts, foreign language, fine arts, technology, and physical education curriculum. All curricular programs are research-based and aligned with the scope and sequence of Core Knowledge as well as the state and national standards for education at each grade level and across all grades.

We value developmentally appropriate instructional methods delivered by expert teachers in an environment of expectation and support. Our middle school students acquire a comprehensive set of knowledge and skills that will take them on to our Classical and College-Prep high school and higher education.

Matriculation

Upon completion of middle school, our students matriculate into our high school prepared for the rigor of a classical education. The emphasis on critical thinking allows students to demonstrate knowledge of the highest levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy. All student writing and Socratic discussion requires an evidence-based response from both primary and secondary sources.

Facilities

The middle school, located on the building’s north side, offers a classic All-American experience. Students showcase athleticism on a manicured turf field and regulation gym, creativity on the theater stage, and curiosity in a library with stunning Rocky Mountain views. They have separate lunch periods in a shared cafetorium and enjoy dedicated fine arts spaces, including a theater, art room, band room, and choir room. Individual full-length lockers provide personal space.

Transportation

Families transport their students to and from school, many forming carpools either on their own or through the WaytoGo program.
