MS Cross Country
Head Coach: Robert Hixson – mscrosscountry@svak12.org
Bio: I was a 3-year cross country and track varsity runner in high
school and continued recreational running in college and afterwards.
After spending 8 years in the Air Force, I currently work for Lockheed
Martin. My family has been at SkyView since the school opened and I
helped coach my kids during their elementary Landsharks careers. My
son, Mitch, is a senior running for the SVA high school team. I’m excited
to be coaching the MS cross country team again this year, and I look
forward to watching the kids grow, compete, and enjoy both the
individual and team aspects of cross country.
Assistant Coach: Kelly Johnson kjohnson@svak12.org
Bio: I ran cross country in high school, and my love for running has only
grown with age. I am currently a marathon runner and love to run long
distances. I could not be more excited to help out and share my love for running.
I can’t wait for our season to start and GO HAWKS!
Assistant Coach: Ashley McGowan
Bio: While I did not start running until college, I have run multiple half
marathons and too many to count 5K’s. I have grown to love the sport of
cross country as my daughter has been part of the Middle School team.
My younger daughter is at all of the meets cheering on the student athletes.
I was lucky enough to get to assist the coaches with some practices last year
and am looking forward to being a full-time member of the team this year. This is
my 3rd year as a Kindergarten ISP, and as much as I enjoy my younger
students, it is a lot of fun for me to watch the MS students grow and challenge
themselves during the cross country season. While they challenge themselves
individually, it’s great to see them support each other as a team.
